Skill Set
The skill-building program for kids, adults, and community partners at the UNC Asheville STEAM Studio.
I have been the welding instructor for the Skill Set program since it began in 2018, and it has become one of my greatest joys. It is a community program that brings young girls and non-binary kids into a shop environment, introducing them to tools and equipment they may otherwise not have access to. The classes are project oriented, and every student comes home with something they made themselves.
